Diagnosis

Performance diagnostics for cars nobody else could fix

Performance diagnostics is what you need when the car is not broken enough to throw a useful code but is clearly not right. A modified engine fails in ways a generic scan tool was never written to describe.

Findings report

Why a dyno finds what a road test cannot

Most intermittent faults only appear under sustained load: the exact condition you cannot safely hold on a public road while watching a laptop.

On the rollers we can put the engine at a fixed load and speed and simply leave it there: watch fuel pressure fall off, watch intake temperature climb, watch a coil start to break down, watch the wideband drift as a pump gives up. The fault stops being intermittent when you can hold the car in it.

The $75 inspection

Booked as an add-on to dyno runs. An OBDII scan first, then tires, brakes, engine condition, transmission condition and driveline condition: the things that decide whether the car is safe to push and worth spending money on.

It is optional and it is performed at the customer's own risk, which is set out in the work authorization you sign when the car arrives. Most people take it, because finding a problem on the rollers is cheaper than finding it on the road.

Common findings

Fuel supply that cannot hold rail pressure at the top of a pull. Boost leaks that seal at idle and open under pressure. Heat-soaked charge air that turns a good tune into a knock event by third gear. Worn plugs gapped for a stock car. Previous tuning that disabled the safeties instead of fixing the cause.

What you get

A written finding with the log that supports it, a recommendation ranked by what actually matters, and an honest note when the right answer is that the car is not worth the next step.
