What we collect, and what we do not
A short policy, because we run a short list. Nothing here is sold, and nothing is collected that the shop does not need to call you back or keep the site working.
Who we are
This site is operated by Loose Cannon Crew LLC, trading as Torque Theory, at 1425 CR 458, Coupland, TX 78615. Reach us at jalexander@torquetheorytx.com or (512) 876-0654. In this policy "we" and "us" mean that business, and "you" means whoever is reading.
What the booking form collects
The form on the contact page asks for your name and a phone number, which are required, and optionally an email address, the year, make, model and mileage of the vehicle, the service you are after, whether you want an inspection added, and a free-text box for modifications and previous tunes. Submitting it sends those answers to the shop as an email through Resend, our mail provider. There is no customer database behind this site: the email is the record, and it lives in the shop's inbox.
We use what you send to answer you, to quote the work and to prepare for the session. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone outside the shop except the mail provider that carries the message.
What the site collects on its own
- Analytics. Google Analytics records which pages are read, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and what referred it. It is on by default and you can turn it off at any time with , which also deletes the cookies it has already set in this browser.
- Abuse limits. When the booking form is submitted, the connecting IP address is checked against a short-lived counter held by Upstash so that one sender cannot flood the shop's inbox. The counter expires within minutes and is not tied to anything you typed.
- Hosting logs. Vercel, which serves the site, keeps standard request logs including IP addresses for a limited period as part of running the service.
- The map. The map in the footer is embedded from Google Maps and loads only when you scroll to it. Once it does, Google may set its own cookies, under its own policy rather than this one.
Cookies and local storage
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Tells repeat visits apart from new ones | Up to 2 years |
| tt-consent | This site | Remembers your answer to the cookie notice | Until cleared |
| tt-seen | This site | Skips the opening animation on pages after the first | The browser tab |
The last two are stored in the browser, are never sent to us, and are what makes the site behave sanely on a second page. Declining analytics leaves them in place and removes the Google ones.
How long we keep things
Booking emails stay in the shop's inbox for as long as the shop has a reason to keep them, which for a returning customer means the service history of the car. Ask us to delete yours and we will. Analytics data expires on Google's own schedule, currently fourteen months.
Your rights
Texas residents have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, including the right to know what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to receive a copy. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing there to opt out of. To exercise any of these, email jalexander@torquetheorytx.com from the address you contacted us with, or call the shop. We will answer within forty-five days. If we turn a request down you may appeal by replying to that answer.
Children
This site is for people booking automotive work and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be flagged on the site rather than made quietly.
